Over the years, I’ve come to see Christmas in a deeper way. The “holiday magic” we remember so fondly wasn’t just there—it was created with love and care. My mom brought it to life through twinkling lights, late-night gift wrapping, and always making time for cocoa and family movies, even when she was beyond tired.
Now, it’s my turn to do the same for my own family, and I’m reminded that this season is about so much more than just traditions. As moms, we have the opportunity to reflect God’s love and grace through the warmth, joy, and togetherness we create. It’s not about perfection; it’s about showing up with love and letting Him fill in the gaps.
This Christmas, let’s treasure the moments that matter most. Slow down, savor the gift of family, and let joy—not stress—be our guide. The love you pour into this season is a reflection of His love, and it’s the greatest gift you can give your family.

Create a peaceful moment for yourself: Whether it’s watching a holiday movie after the kids go to bed or enjoying a hot drink by the fire, give yourself a chance to recharge.
- Before you sleep, spend 10 minutes today resting in gratitude for all of the many blessings around you.
Pre-plan small traditions: Don’t overthink it! Make popcorn and cranberry garlands, have a PJ day or family movie night, read the Christmas story, or play a family board game by the tree.
Something that my family loves to do is open most of our presents on Christmas Eve. This makes it so you can have the full day on Christmas to do something fun with your family. For example, my family loves skiing. We often will spend the entirety of Christmas day skiing and drinking cocoa 🙂 And it’s something my kids look forward to every year.
Simplify your décor:
- Start Small: Pick just one area to begin with, such as your entryway. Spend 15 minutes adding a festive wreath to the door or a simple garland over a mirror.
- Go for Impact: Focus on decorations that make a statement without requiring much effort, like a beautiful centerpiece for the dining table or a string of fairy lights on the mantel.
- Use What You Have: Instead of pulling out every holiday item, choose a few favorite pieces that spark joy and leave the rest in storage.
- Stick to a Theme: Pick one or two colors or a specific style (e.g., rustic, modern, or traditional) to keep the look cohesive and easier to manage.
- Keep it Quick: Limit your decorating time to an hour or less. You don’t need to transform your entire home to feel festive!
